QuickBooks Restore

The only QuickBooks backup that rebuilds a live company file.

A QuickBooks Online restore from WOW is built for QuickBooks backup and restore work when you need to restore QuickBooks from backup or rebuild a QuickBooks company file after a loss. WOW Restore is our QBO restore service. Other tools give you CSV or IIF files and leave you to sort it out. We rebuild the company file end to end: chart of accounts, customers, vendors, transactions, and attachments. We check the result to the cent before you cut over.

The process

From restore request to a working company file, this usually takes a few hours.

Five steps from snapshot to a working company file.

1

Start a restore

Click Restore in your WOW dashboard and pick the snapshot date. Each restore creates a new company file at that backup date. If you have a Restore coupon, it applies at once.

2

WOW sets up a new QBO company file

WOW creates a new QuickBooks Online company file with Intuit's official OAuth flow. The file is yours — billed to you and owned by you.

3

We rebuild the data in the right order

Chart of accounts and tax codes come first. Then customers, vendors, and items. Then the full transaction history: invoices, bills, payments, credit memos, journal entries, bank transactions, purchase orders, and transfers. We re-upload and relink attachments to the right transactions. Order matters, because a payment cannot exist before the invoice it pays.

4

We check the result against the source snapshot

Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Profit & Loss are reconciled against the original backup snapshot. Bank feeds still need a manual reconnect after a restore. If the QBO API cannot recreate a record exactly, we note it for review.

5

You cut over

You review the result, sign off, and move your team to the new company file. Your old company stays untouched for audit, review, or future use. Your historical records stay the same.

WOW vs the alternatives

Why export alone is not a backup.

CSV export / IIF export

"Here is a file. Good luck."

· Flat files lose the links between records.

· IIF format is very unreliable for re-import.

· Reconciliation status is not kept.

· Attachments are not included, so you must download them separately.

· Some transactions point to customer IDs that no longer exist.

· Imports must happen in strict order; one wrong step can corrupt the file.

· QBO Advanced full rollback can roll back the whole company, so recent work is lost.

· There is no SLA, no validation, and no one to call.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about restoring QuickBooks data.

Instead of giving you flat files to re-import, WOW rebuilds a live QuickBooks Online company file end to end. The full relational structure stays in place, payments stay linked to invoices, data is written in the right dependency order through the QBO API, attachments are re-uploaded and linked again, and the Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Profit & Loss are reconciled to the cent before you cut over. You sign off on a working company file, not a pile of spreadsheets.
WOW restores your chart of accounts and tax codes first, then customers, vendors, and items. Next comes the full transaction history: invoices, bills, payments, credit memos, journal entries, bank transactions, purchase orders, and transfers. Attachments are re-uploaded and linked to the right transactions. This order matters because a payment cannot be created before the invoice it pays.
