# WOW Backup and Restore

## Product Overview

WOW Backup and Restore solves a gap that most accounting firms do not realise exists until something goes wrong. Xero and QuickBooks Online both run their own infrastructure backups, but neither platform will restore your data on request. If a staff member deletes a year of invoices, if a third-party app corrupts your chart of accounts, or if you cancel your subscription and lose access, you are on your own. Xero's terms commit only to "taking reasonable steps to recover from their own backups." Intuit's QuickBooks Online terms cap their data loss liability at USD $100.

WOW closes that gap. Every day at midnight in your region, WOW takes a complete snapshot of your Xero organisation or QuickBooks Online company file via the official API. Attachments are included. If something goes wrong, the WOW team restores your data into a brand-new organisation or company file, rebuilt in strict dependency order (chart of accounts first, then transactions), validated to the cent. Your live file is never overwritten.

- WOW Connect: USD $9.95/month per active organisation or company file. Daily automated backup with 7-day rolling retention (extendable to 30, 60, or 90 days). Attachments included. No per-user fees.
- WOW Restore: USD $149.95 one-time per file. Full point-in-time restore to a new org or company file, handled by the WOW team end-to-end.
- WOW Vault: USD $2.49/month per inactive organisation. Retain your backup archive without further daily snapshots.

## Platform Coverage

### Xero
Regions: USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK. Backed up via Xero API using OAuth. Includes invoices, bills, contacts, journals, items, tax rates, tracking categories, chart of accounts, and attachments. Restores create a new Xero organisation. Bank feeds require manual reconnection after restore. Bank transfers are excluded from Xero's API scope (paired manual journal entries are the workaround).

### QuickBooks Online
Regions: USA, Canada, Australia. QBO only (not Desktop). Connected via Intuit's official OAuth flow. 50+ QBO entity types backed up. Restores provision a brand-new QBO company file. Data rebuilt in strict dependency order. No native backup exists for Simple Start, Essentials, or Plus plans. QBO Advanced's native backup excludes 15+ data types including custom reports, reconciliation history, and bank rules.

## Security and Compliance

- OAuth only. No passwords are ever stored.
- 2FA mandatory on every account.
- AWS-encrypted storage, region-aware: Sydney (AU), Canada Central (CA), us-east (US).
- Audit trail with timestamps, user identity, and IP address on every action.
- WOW satisfies the backup element of PIPEDA (Canada), the Australian Privacy Act (including 2024 amendments), and the FTC Safeguards Rule (USA). WOW is not full compliance on its own.

## WOW Continuity

WOW Continuity is a free, offline-first, double-entry general ledger desktop application. It keeps firms operational during Xero or QuickBooks outages. Transactions post locally and auto-sync when the cloud returns. Available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows. Version 1.1.0. No account required.
